Water Chlorine Adjustment Calculator
Water Chlorine Adjustment Calculator: calculate required available chlorine kg with consistent units and explicit assumptions.
Inputs
m³
mg/L
mg/L
wt%
kg/L
mg/L
Results
- Product mass
- 1.6 kg
- Product volume
- 1.333333 L
- Available chlorine
- 0.2 kg
⚠ Stoichiometric estimate only. Measure residual after contact time; demand, decay and pH affect actual dosing. If initial exceeds target, dosing cannot reduce chlorine.
Formula
Required available chlorine kg = water m³ × dose mg/L / 1000
Product kg = chlorine kg / available-chlorine mass fraction
Residual blending uses conservation of chlorine before decay.
Assumptions & limits
- Available-chlorine presets use chlorine-equivalent mass. Chemical-assay presets convert NaOCl × 70.906/74.442 or Ca(OCl)₂ × 141.812/142.98. Confirm supplier label basis.
- Not a potable-water safety recommendation; follow local treatment requirements and measure actual residual.
Worked example
For the example inputs: Product mass = 1.6 kg; Product volume = 1.333333 L; Available chlorine = 0.2 kg.
Required available chlorine kg = water m³ × dose mg/L / 1000
