Formula
Fit = ⌊L÷l⌋ × ⌊W÷w⌋ × ⌊H÷h⌋ for each allowed orientation (best kept)
Cartons = min(Fit, ⌊Payload ÷ carton weight⌋)
Assumptions & limits
- Single block pattern; mixed-orientation loading can fit slightly more.
- Typical internal dimensions: 20GP 5.898×2.352×2.393 m, 40GP 12.032×2.352×2.393 m, 40HC 12.032×2.352×2.698 m.
- Door opening, pallets and dunnage are ignored.
Worked example
Upright: 20 × 5 × 6 = 600 cartons vs rotated 30 × 3 × 6 = 540 → 600 cartons, 9,000 kg, 75.4% of volume.
