Formula
Blank length = 2 × (L + W) + glue flap
Blank width = H + W (top and bottom flaps are W/2 each)
Weight (kg) = Blank area (m²) × (1 + allowance%) × GSM ÷ 1000
Assumptions & limits
- Regular slotted container, flaps meet at the centre (FEFCO 0201).
- Board thickness is ignored when converting inner dimensions to blank size — real blanks are slightly larger.
- Ink, glue, tape and straps are excluded.
- GSM must be the combined board grammage, not a single liner.
Worked example
Blank = (2 × 700 + 35) × (250 + 300) = 1435 × 550 mm = 0.789 m².
With 5% allowance: 0.829 m² × 550 g/m² ÷ 1000 ≈ 0.46 kg per carton.
