Formula
Seed rate (kg/ha) = Plants/m² × TGW (g) ÷ (germination × emergence × 100)
Assumptions & limits
- Germination from the seed certificate; emergence 80–90% for good seedbeds.
Worked example
300 × 45 ÷ (0.95 × 0.85 × 100) = 167.2 kg/ha × 20 = 3,344 kg.
